Day 11: Mon Parfum
Mon parfum was the personal perfume Martine Micallef used, like the Private Collection from Mrs Lauder or the Armani Prive Collection made for personal friends of Giorgio Armani. It was a gift from her husband. For some reason Private Collection fragrances tend to be more expensive than the regular collections and distribution can be limited to special shops. The Armani Prive Collection is sold exclusively in one shop in Amsterdam. Mon Parfum, meaning my perfume, is sold at Luckyscent with the regular collection but not at First in Fragrance.
Comments on the several comment boards like fragantica, luckyscent and basenotes varied on Mon Parfum. Some found Mon Parfum a fragrance for an old lady. Others thought it was very similar to Shiseido Zen Gold, Narcisso Rodriguez for her and Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely. Narcisso Rodriguez for her and SJK Lovely are both scents I do not like. They are too powdery for me.
Interestingly some commented on the contrast in the sweet gourmand caramel and vanilla notes and the earthy base from the patchouly. This is about an hour after the first spitz. I can relate to this and like the drydown with the earthy patchouly and clean musk. It wraps you like a caramel coloured thin blanket. Mon Parfum wears very close to the skin.
Mon Parfum just does not move me, I do not get any association with it. But I can imagine some really liking it especially its sweet but earthy drydown. Mon Marfum helped me understand one thing about gourmand perfumes. They can be overly sweet so I have to be careful with them. Lolita Lempicka Le Premier Parfum is a gourmand perfume I instantly loved. I will stick to this for now.
